I got the following email in from Kristina and I thought I would pass it on to all of you. It is a good way to get your grocery money -- or money for that electric bill!!

Hello Tammy.
I wanted to tell you that I tried my first overstock yard sale today. I hadn't seen any in this area, so I wasn't sure how it would do. People started coming early, and were excited about the idea of getting new things for a 50% discount. I priced everything by the dollar. If it was cheaper than that, then I would price it 2/$1. I didn't think that I would do that well, because I didn't have much stuff. I was hoping to make $100, but I ended up making close to $200!!! It's not as much as I know I can do in the future, but VERY happy with the amount. I put out a paper for people to sign to be notified when the next one would be. Most of the people who came were from my area, but I really feel that a sale in town would do well. I just wanted to pass on the good news and give others an idea on how to make some extra money.

This is a company that offers 1 item at a deal each day. I have never purchased from them but scrolled through their past deals and they have had some really good buys.

CVS Run yesterday - Wildwood Florida

We took the girls bowling last night -- yes with coupons

On the way home we stopped at the CVS in Wildwood. I highly recommend them -- they are very coupon friendly and were as happy for us with our good deals as we were.

I get the Save $5.00 off $30.00 coupons emailed to me from CVS. I have never had one that did not beep. Not sure why -- I emailed CVS about it and they said sometimes it takes awhile to get in the system and they can be overridden at the registers. However our local Inverness store has never honored them, so I don't even shop there anymore -- too much of a hassle with coupons to be worth it. If they do not want my business I will take it elsewhere (Wildwood and Bushnell are awesome!!)

Walgreens Trip tonight

ok, I had the nicest girl check me out at the store on independence. Her name was Danielle. I think she was more excited about my orders than I was. I had 5 separate transactions and everytime someone would come up behind me she would very nicely tell them they might want to go over to photo because I had several transactions and was using coupons. She told them I was shopping smart but it did take some time. So everyone thanked her for letting them know and they went to photo.

Ok, I started checking out. When she got done with my first order she gave me my register rewards and then told me she was going to stack my receipts on her register and give them to me all at once.

I was like -- ok, no problem -- thinking that was different, but I like to let them do it the way they want when I can.

So we continued on through my 5 transactions. All of them went very smooth except some of the things rang up for a little less than advertised so I did have to grab some mandarins for fillers to use my register rewards (which by the way -- the ones I purchased this week worked good -- they cost me $30.04 for $40.00 so was like a $9.96 coupon)

Ok, when I got done the cashier took all of my receipts and said are you in a hurry? I said no what's up. She grabbed her calculater and said I would like to see how much you saved :o)

This was a first for me. I have never had a cashier tally up my order to see how much money I saved. I think she was as excited as I was.

Anyhow -- she is very young -- very sweet and a real pleasure when it comes to coupons

I purchased a qty of 3 -- this got me over the $25.00 quote for free shipping and close to the amount of my gift cards so I would not have a lot out of pocket.

Basically I entered my 7 codes for the swagbucks gift cards. I sort of went into a panic when I entered my 3rd gift card because it went back down to only $5.00 so I went in and entered the 1st gift card I had already entered and it popped it back up to $15.00 (for the 3 codes). Anyhow -- I entered the 7 gift card codes and it was only showing the $5.00 discount for the gift card so I repeated what I had done earlier when I was checking it and re-entered a code I had already put it and all 7 showed up for the $35.00 discount

So I got 90 oz of Extra Virgin Coconut oil for $.04 -- I bet American Express is going to hate me for that charge!!

Razors (the good ones) -- I never pay more than $1.00 and the majority of the time these are FREE. I have even been lucky enough to score a few money makers on these

Toothbrushes -- NEVER EVER pay for a toothbrush -- you can get high quality toothbrushes monthly for FREE

Sanitary Napkins and tampons -- the most I have been paying for these are $1.00 for a package.
Again most of the times these are FREE (and I try to really stock up at these times -- if the store has enough stock)
I have even had a few moneymakers on these as well

Shampoo and conditioner -- For the most part you can score FREE shampoo and conditioner. I have grown fond of the John Frieda since couponing (had never gotten past the price prior to that), but will pay up to $.50 a bottle for this -- and I stock up at the $.33

Dog Food -- I have been getting a lot of dog food for free (well not technically free since I purchase extra coupons -- the most I pay for my coupons though is .08 each so for a bag of dog food that is a good deal. Dakota and Skye are loving it :o)

Body Wash -- You should never have to buy body wash. They are always running deals on this and you stock up while it is on sale and you will not have to pay regular price. I don't even buy bar soaps anymore -- just body wash. I have also been refilling my bathroom soap dispensers with body wash instead of purchasing soft soap

Deodorant -- never pay $$ for deodorant. Unless you have to have a particular brand you can always score Free deodorant somewhere

Toothpaste -- Most of the time you can get this FREE. I would say if I was totally out $.25 is the max I would pay for a tube of toothpaste.


This is just a few of the deals to be had. There are lots more, but I don't know where to start and stop :o)

For the most part what you have to pay on one item, another item that you get overage on will counteract the balance. I keep a spreadsheet for the main stores that I shop - and it really helps to keep track of things and make sure I am staying on budget. I keep these for Publix, Winn Dixie, Walgreens, and CVS

I will post an example of a 2 month spending pattern at the bottom of this post (ok -- it would not copy and paste correctly so I will just post the figures)

coupon total = $579.58
tax = $30.91
total cost = $578.29
rr used = $228.00
gc used =$0.00
total oop = $350.29
rr earned = $179.00
rebate earned = $545.26 (this includes items that I have lots of stock of and sold online)
cost = -$194.97

So for a 2 month spending I have made a profit of $194.97

Note --- this does not count the RR earned -- since I count this in the register rewards used when I spend them I do not want to count them twice.

1 more note -- the above profit figure includes a loss of $46.00 in register rewards that I ended up losing because with the double shows I was too busy to shop :o)

It also includes a purchase of $30.00 for RR that I made on ebay (cost $30.00 for $40.00 worth of RR)

Save some money on fabric softener????

This is for those who are sensitive to smells and detergents. I found this article online and I thought I would share it with you. Hey its worth a try!!!

Have you ever thought about using white vinegar in your laundry?

I hadn’t until a while ago when I heard that you can add vinegar to your towel loads to fluff them up instead of using liquid fabric softener!

Who wouldn’t want fluffy towels?

So, we started to put 1/2 cup of vinegar in a full load and a 1/4 cup in a smaller load of towels. You just pour it in at the beginning in the fabric softener slot or during your rinse cycle when you would normally put in your liquid fabric softener. We have found this to be immensely beneficial to our laundry and to our budget! And it is a natural alternative!

Not only does the vinegar “fluff” the towels, it actually takes smells out too! So you can have fluffier, fresher smelling towels.

We also use it with our sheet and blanket loads for the same reasons.
We also use it in our white loads.

Vinegar is very cheap especially in bulk or gallon size bottles (I get the double pack of white vinegar at Sams). This will save you an incredible amount of money not needing to use liquid softener. You will not need to purchase special or expensive odor removing laundry products.

We still use dryer sheets as needed to reduce the static – but we use the sheets in the dryer. The vinegar does help to reduce some static.

We also read somewhere that the harsh chemicals in fabric softener actually break down the threads whereas vinegar will not break the towel threads hardly at all – so your towels may last longer as well and save you money on towel replacement.
It is also gentler on the skin and perfect for those with sensitivities to the ingredients in common household laundry products.

I have not personally tried this yet but will be giving it a whirl :o)

K-Mart -- Possibly FREE Razors

I have not price checked these at the local Kmart but a lot of areas in Florida are reporting clearanced pricing on their Schick razors.

In a lot of areas the Schick Hydro Razor has been reduced to $4.99 (the 3 blade) and $5.99 (the 5 blade).
