Sorry for lack of posts
I am taking advantage of the break and I am in the middle of a million projects :o)
Not sure what all will get finished but I am going until the phones start ringing again. Hopefully some of them will be completed by then!
It is killing my allergies but will be better when it is completed and the dust has died down.
My carpet in the living room, dining room and hallway is GONE!!!! YEAH!!
I won't even get into how disgusting and nasty it was.
For those of you that know my dad he was here one day when the girls were taking some of it up to the dumpster and he was going to help them heft it into the dumpster. He did not try to salvage any of it -- so I rest my case on how disgusting the carpet was. Carpet and Florida are not a good mix!!
I vacuumed the floors (600 sq feet)after the carpet was taken up and filled my canister up twice with Sand and baking soda (Rox always used baking soday to refresh our carpets)!!
It just really grosses me out to know it was like that!! I knew it was just had to wait until it would not effect the shows because of my allergies (which yes are currently a mess!!)
So, right now I have bare plywood floors and we are Sanding and painting the drywall (so my bare floors are becoming speckled floors).
I have to go find some HUGE rolls of plastic today so that I can paint the ceilings. I think we are going to spray them so I have to cover the entire house with plastic. Oh I wish I had a coupon!!!
Once the ceilings are painted we are going to spray the walls so will be moving (hopefully the same plastic) down to spray the walls (or maybe they are doing the walls and then the ceilings -- not sure which they are doing first)
Once that is completed I am going to try my hand with laminate flooring.
I did a lot of research and it has some really great reviews. I was a bit leary because all I had seen was what Big Lots carried and I was not impressed at all.
I could scratch it with my fingernails!!
I found some nice laminate at a store in Brandon (found them on Craigslist). It was not the color I would have initially chose. I went strictly for price and quality. The salesman just smiled at me and then looked at Tim and said "smart woman". I don't know if he meant it or was being a salesman -- doesn't matter. He came up and said what can I show you. I said -- the best quality for the lowest price. He said -- what color? I said -- it doesn't matter -- I am on a budget. He did not push at all!!!! I guess he figured if I didn't have the budget why bother. So, a god line even you have the budget so you don't have a salesman hasseling you!
So I ended up with Caroline Hickory which was on a Managers Clearance. I feel I got a really good price. It has a 25 year warranty and looks a cinch to lay.
Oh and by the way -- for any of you do it yourself people out there. You tube has awesome instructional videos for pretty much anything.
Tim is working so a lot of this I have started while he was gone (my theory -- I can start it -- he can fix it !). It is amazing what you think needs done and then when you get into it a lot of other things start showing up. A lot of this I have just blocked out of my view during show season (to keep my sanity), but when you start breaking it down there is a lot of little things that need repaired so I am doing it while we are at it.
Anyway -- I am rambling but back to the drywall.
Any of you that have ever lived in a mobil home, double wide or modular know how insane they are with the trim boards on the walls. If they nick a wall, they grab a trim board and stick it up (even if there is already one there 1.5" away -- I don't know what they are thinking!!!). Anyway -- a lot of my more traveled areas had broken trim boards where something was being carried bumped against it and it broke. I also had an area where I had blocked puppies in and they had chewed on the trim board. So, I priced my trim -- $.79 per foot!! I have 11' ceilings and I had more than 20 that I wanted to replace -- 13 of them being 11' ones ($112.97 - before tax -- this does not include the shorter ones)!! So this is where the youtube videos come in. I started researching. I had an idea how I could fix it but wanted to know how difficult it would be. I watched them mudding the drywall. Ok, I decorated cakes for over 10 years -- looked really similar (I just couldn't use a paper towel to add the texture at the end).
So, before I did something totally insane -- I called Denny to make sure it would work. He was like yeah!! No problem. So I went off to Lowes and spent Tims entire paycheck he made that day. He got home and I was like "sweetheart -- you didn't make anything today because I already spent it!!!" He just grinned at me (sleepily - he had been up since 3:30 and I think the haziness made everything look fine -- even though the house was totally torn apart and upside down).
Youtube has all the how-to videos on corner beading, mudding, sanding etc. and I had watched a lot of them so I was ready to go. I was going at it and Denny called and wanted to come over and help. I was torn between the satisfaction of doing it myself and getting it done in a hurry -- getting it done in a hurry won out. I had gotten 1.5 layers done (started at 4:00 yesterday morning -- Denny got here about 4:30 last night) when Denny and the family showed up and they got another complete layer on -- finished my corner beading (which I had only gotten 3 pieces screwed on by the time they got here) and had everything coated at least once (some of it twice) by the time they left at 9:30 last night. So, they got done in 1 night what it would have probably taken me 3 days. He used a powdered mud added to my mud but the powdered mud (was like mud on steroids) and it dried waaaaaayyyyyy faster than what I had been using!!
Anyway -- I am not going to drag this out. This gives you an idea of where I have been and what I have been up to.
And I wanted to throw in -- if you have something you have been wanting to do but cannot afford the labor -- check out you tube and learn how to do it!!!

Youtube has all the how-to videos on corner beading, mudding, sanding etc. and I had watched a lot of them so I was ready to go. I was going at it and Denny called and wanted to come over and help. I was torn between the satisfaction of doing it myself and getting it done in a hurry -- getting it done in a hurry won out. I had gotten 1.5 layers done (started at 4:00 yesterday morning -- Denny got here about 4:30 last night) when Denny and the family showed up and they got another complete layer on -- finished my corner beading (which I had only gotten 3 pieces screwed on by the time they got here) and had everything coated at least once (some of it twice) by the time they left at 9:30 last night. So, they got done in 1 night what it would have probably taken me 3 days. He used a powdered mud added to my mud but the powdered mud (was like mud on steroids) and it dried waaaaaayyyyyy faster than what I had been using!!
Anyway -- I am not going to drag this out. This gives you an idea of where I have been and what I have been up to.
And I wanted to throw in -- if you have something you have been wanting to do but cannot afford the labor -- check out you tube and learn how to do it!!!
It is fun!!! Exhausting -- but fun!!

This is for you to post if you would like to. Kristina told me that people are asking her for an update on what happened to me at Publix, and she thought I should write to you and tell you "the rest of the story".
Not much to tell, really, but the district manager did call me and his name is Jack Daniel, and he talked very nicely to me.
I just explained to him what had happened and my only reason for contacting them was because I felt that it was a shame that Publix wouldn't honor their BOGO sale by allowing me to use two coupons and limiting me to one BOGO and ONE coupon. So, I took my business to Walmart and I did a "price match" and had no problems. He was apologetic and said that it's Publix's policy to allow two mf q's on a BOGO and that he would talk to the manager there in Inverness.
Last night I'd gone to Publix in Hernando and wanted to purchase the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese that's on a BOGO sale but they were all out, so today I stopped in at the Inverness Publix to see if they had any, but they were all out, also.
I decided, since I was there, that I'd go to Customer Service and ask for a copy of their new coupon policy.
Guess who was there?? Yep, the same lady manager that I had the issue with! So, I smile real big and say "Hello, I was wondering if I could have a copy of the new coupon policy?"
She looks up at me, over the top of her glasses, and doesn't even say "Hello", no smile, nothing, but has a girl, standing close by, get it for me!
I was hoping that she wouldn't remember who I was, but I'm pretty sure she does!
I HATE confrontations, and I do feel badly about the whole thing, but if it makes things a little easier for all of us then it's worth it. I always kept a good attitude but she was VERY RUDE to me and hopefully nobody else will encounter her. The new policy should help. Thanks, Louise

Publix Coupon Policy -- It's Official!!
We’ve all been waiting on the *new* Publix Coupon Policy -- Here it is!
The policy will be officially announced this Saturday, May 14th. And does not officially go into effect until Monday, May 23rd to allow the cashiers and customers a few days to adjust to the new policy.

Two bowling teams, one of all Blondes and one of all Brunettes, charter a double-decker bus for a week-end gambling trip to Louisiana.
The Brunette team rode on the bottom of the bus, and the Blonde team rode on the top level.
The Brunette team down below really whooped it up, having a great time, when one of them realized she hadn't heard anything from the Blondes upstairs. She decided to go up and investigate.
When the Brunette reached the top, she found all the Blondes frozen in fear, staring straight ahead at the road, clutching the seats in front of them with white knuckles.
The brunette asked, "What's going on up here? We're having a great time downstairs!"
One of the Blondes looked up at her, swallowed hard and whispered...
"YEAH, BUT YOU'VE GOT A DRIVER!"

R & K Automotive in Inverness Florida
I wanted to mention this Automotive place in Inverness for in case anyone needs work done or anything on their car.
Denny has always got his cars worked on here and has been very happy.
So, when the Buick started giving us fits yesterday Tim and I decided we had better take it into the shop because he did not have time to track down what the problem was. So because of Denny's recommendation we took it to R&K.
I hate taking my cars into Automotive shops because it seems like they always find a million and two things that need repaired.
I called them today to see if they could check it out by tomorrow if we brought it in today and also how much it would cost for a diagnosis.
They said bring it in -- no charge for the diagnosis unless we have to tear it apart.
So when Tim got off work today he crippled it into the shop. When Tim told them what it was doing (fine one day and crippling and guzzling gas like crazy the next) they told him there were two things they would want to initially check out.
They said first of all down here squirrels are real bad about getting into the engine and eating the wiring.
Once they raised the hood and seen how clean the engine was they told him their next guess would be Distributor. They asked him if he was good with working on cars (he has always done 95% of the maintenance on our cars) he told them he had done quite a bit of work on cars just didn't know where to start and didn't have the time to track it down. They said if you want to go to Advance and buy a distributor and see if that is the problem you could probably fix it yourself for a lot less. They said if that doesn't fix it -- bring it back in and we will go from there. Tim tried to pay them and they refused and said the advice was FREE.
So, he went to Advance (purchased the wrong part the first time but decided to keep it due to the condition of the one that he took off) -- then put a new distributor on it and it was purring like a kitten when he got home.
So, the moral of this long story is rather than take advantage of us -- they told us what they thought the problem was and saved us some labor $$
They are also going to be doing some work on moms car on Monday for $300.00 which the lowest quote she had gotten previously was $600. at Chiltons -- so half price
So I just wanted to pass on this information. If you are like me -- when something goes wrong on the car you are in a tight little spot and sometimes we can be taken advantage of.
So if you need work done -- might want to check them out!!!

Local Inverness PUBLIX Shopping Trip
I received this email today from Louise who wanted to share her experience at Publix.
Unfortunately Extreme Couponing is making everyone think everyone is out to take advantage of the stores.
Below is a cut and paste of the email I received from Louise and her experience at the Inverness Publix
Hi Tammy,
I thought I'd pass on my experience that I had, so others could be warned. I had a bad experience trying to purchase the Bic Soleil razors. I took my razors, vitamins, shampoo etc. up to the register, and very promptly appeared the manager, saying something to the cashier about "those razor coupons".
They were talking quietly so I couldn't hear it all, but then she tells me that I can only purchase TWO razors and use only ONE coupon! She said that someone came in yesterday and bought a large quantity and that she was limiting how many we could purchase. There were approx. 100 razors left, so it's not like I was taking them all, or anything. I told her that's ok, that I'd just get two, and that's when she told me that I could only use ONE coupon. I asked her why, and she said that the coupon states that it can't be combined with any other offer.
I told her that I thought that meant that I couldn't "double" it or use it in a manner not intended but that I always use two coupons on a BOGO sale. She wouldn't budge, so I just told her that I would take my coupons to a more "coupon-friendly" store. lol I went to Walmart and did a "price match" and got 14 razors and my shampoo. I got the overage from the razors to use on the shampoo, so I was very happy.
After thinking on it, I decided to let Publix know that I took my business to Walmart, and that I felt that was very sad that they wouldn't honor their own sale but that Walmart did!
Well, today the manager from the Inverness Publix called me and WOW! Was she ever rude!!
She proceeded to "teach" me how to use my coupons and how people are ALWAYS trying to use them fraudlently and she had me get one of the coupons and read it along with her, while she explained it to me! lol
The last straw was when she said that coupons aren't intended to be used in that manner and it's only intended for one person to use one coupon and that she's seen HER razors on the grass at someones yard sale??? (she said it like it was stealing or??)
Well, I realized the conversation wasn't accomplishing anything, so I told her, "thanks for calling, goodbye", and I hung up while she was still talking.
So, I'm just warning others, that might want to use their coupons to buy the razors, that they might want to take them to a different Publix! That woman is scary!!
