This is a nice heavy duty grater in comparison to the handheld ones that I have owned in the past. The red part on it is like a hard plastic on the handle and a soft rubbery material on the part that would be sitting on your plate or cutting board. The rubbery part at the bottom is removable for washing.
It seems like a good grade of stainless steel. Graters I have owned in the past started showing signs of rust within a month and I always had to pitch them. This one is not -- so far.....
